Traffic Island Beautification

The South Fayette Conservation Group works with community partners and volunteers to beautify and maintain traffic islands in South Fayette.

The initial layout of islands was designed by Bedner's Farm and Greenhouse in Cecil. Bedner's Farm and Greenhouse, a SFCG corporate member, also graciously donated all of the plants for the project. Perennials were chosen because they will continue to beautify the islands for many years to come.

Thanks to the South Fayette Public Works Department, the islands were tilled for easier planting.

SFCG volunteers came out early in the morning planting the perennials. Director of South Fayette Parks and Recreation, Jerry Males, volunteered his time to water the plants using the townships water buffalo.

Permanent signage was placed at the gardens by the South Fayette Department of Public Works in recognition of the South Fayette Conservation Group and Bedner Greenhouse.
